After Araujo, it's Gavi's turn
Barcelona announced on Tuesday the renewal of Araujo until 2024. And now, according to 'Mundo Deportivo', Gavi is next. Meanwhile, the club also wants to settle Ousmane Dembele's renewal.
Gavi is the next priority, without counting on Ousmane Dembele, that Barcelona have to tackle. The Spanish club announced the renewal of Ronald Araujo on Tuesday and now they will try to do the same with the Andalusian midfielder.
The academy player has signed a contract with the Spaniards until 30th June 2023. This would allow him, if he does not renew before the end of the year, to negotiate freely with any club on 1st January next year. And Barça want to avoid any risk.
Gavi's progression has been incredible. He has become a key player for Xavi and was already a key player for Koeman. And not only for them. Luis Enrique had no doubts when it came to calling him up for Spain for the Nations League. His performance silenced the criticism of the player's lack of experience.
The 17-year-old made his debut on 29th August in the Barça-Getafe match and, since then, his rise has been spectacular. He has accumulated 2,673 minutes for Barça in the 42 games he has played this season, with two goals and five assists to his credit. Against him, the 13 yellow cards he has seen, an aspect that must be improved. In addition, he already has six appearances for the Spanish national team.
