Adam saw red for crunching tackle on Rooney
The snow didn't dampen tensions in the Premier League clash between Stoke City and Everton as Charlie Adam was sent off in the 30th minute for a tough tackle on Wayne Rooney.
The relegation strugglers have given themselves a mountain to climb in their league match on Saturday after they were reduced to 10 men just after the half-hour mark.
In pretty dire conditions, Adam and Rooney both went in for a 50-50 ball but the Stoke player was fractions late and referee Martin Atkinson deemed it serious enough to brandish a red card, much to the protests of the 'Potters'.
It was arguably harsh on the Scottish midfielder, having only gone in with one foot, but he did jump high off the ground going in and that was probably what tipped it against him.
