Europe's top league championships continue to progress, with the scorers already topping the 2019-2020 Golden Shoe standings. Ciro Immobile has overtaken Robert Lewandowski, who is now closely followed by Cristiano Ronaldo.

We are about halfway through the season, and more familiar names have started appearing in the Golden Boot ranking now. However, the undisputed leader still remains Ciro Immobile. The coronavirus has affected the matches, which means barely any movement has happened.

The Italian Immobile has accounted for almost half of Lazio's league goals in 2019-20 and leads the race for the European Golden Shoe ahead of Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski, who will be out for a month after injuring his knee in Bayern's 0-3 win over Chelsea in the UCL.

The Polish striker is followed by Cristiano Ronaldo, who could not manage to score against Inter over the weekend.

He is equalled by RB Leipzig's Timo Werner, who's scored an impressive 21 goals in 23 matches this Bundesliga season.

In fifth place, none other than wonderboy Erling Haaland. The Norwegian's breakthrough season has only continued since his move to Borussia Dortmund, where he's managed to score in six consecutive Bundesliga matchdays, including an off the bench hat-trick against FC Augsburg in his debut.

He is followed by Lionel Messi, who surpasses Jamie Vardy in the 6th place after scoring Barcelona's only goal against Real Sociedad.

Kylian Mbappé earns a place as number 8, while, while Ben Yedder and Romelu Lukaku are tied with 17 goals and 34 points.

2019/20 Golden Boot ranking (26-02-2020)

1.- Ciro Immobile (Lazio, Italy) 27 goals, 54 points. 2.- Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich, Germany), 25 goals, 50 points. 3.- Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus, Italy) 21 goals, 42 points. 4.- Timo Werner (RB Leipzig, Germany), 21 goals, 42 points. 5.- Erling Haaland (Dortmund, Germany; RB Salzburg, Austria), 25 goals, 42 points.  6.-  Lionel Messi (Barcelona, Spain) 19 goals, 38 points.  7.- Jamie Vardy (Barcelona, Spain), 19 goals, 38 points. 8.- Kylian Mbappé (PSG, France), 17 goals, 34 goals.  9.- Ben Yedder (Monaco, France), 17 goals, 34 points. 10.- Romelu Lukaku (Inter, Italy), 17 goals, 34 points.

It should be remembered that the Golden Boot only counts the goals scored in the League, and does not count the goals scored in Champions League or other tournaments.

To calculate the points, 'European Sports Media' gives a multiplier to each competition based on its position in the UEFA ranking. Thus, the five major leagues (Spain, France, Germany, England and Italy) double the goals, and the less important leagues, such as Portugal, the Netherlands or Turkey, to give three examples, multiply by 1.5. The minor leagues do not have a multiplication factor.

In the event of a tie on points, the first criterion for a tiebreaker will be the lowest number of minutes played in their respective league championships.
