Amorim set for ruthless overhaul at Man Utd, says Ferdinand

Manchester United's dismal Premier League campaign continued at the weekend, as a 2-0 defeat to West Ham left them languishing in 16th place, perilously close to the drop zone. Amorim, who arrived with high expectations, has overseen just six league victories in 25 attempts.
Speaking on his podcast, Ferdinand suggested Amorim has already identified some players who don't fit his philosophy and will likely seek major changes in the coming months.
"If he could, I think he'd get rid of at least 50 per cent of that squad over the next few years," said the former United captain. "Too many of them just don't suit the way he wants to play. He'll need a minimum of two strong transfer windows to move them on and bring in the right profiles."
United still have a faint hope of salvaging their season, with a Europa League final against Tottenham scheduled for 21 May in Bilbao. A win would secure Champions League qualification and inject around £80 million into the club's coffers — funds that could be crucial in rebuilding the squad.
However, Ferdinand warned that a European triumph alone won't solve their deeper problems.
"There's a long way to go before this team is anywhere near our rivals," he continued. "Amorim needs to bring in players with energy and physicality — no more flair for flair's sake. We need athletes who can dominate the pitch, not just entertain."
