Alvaro Carreras to be unveiled as new Real Madrid player this week

Real Madrid continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the start of the 2025/26 season. After 'Los Blancos' secured the signings of Dean Huijsen, Alexander-Arnold and Franco Mastanuono, the next to be announced is Alvaro Carreras.
The Benfica full-back has already left Portugal to land in Spain in order to sign his new contract with the Spanish side and pass his medical. In fact, Fabrizio Romano said that in the next 24 hours the 22-year-old defender could be officially announced by the club, to be unveiled as a new signing this week.
In this way, the Spanish full-back would reinforce a defence that was undoubtedly one of Real Madrid's biggest problems last season due to the plague of injuries they suffered. In addition, Xabi Alonso's side's defence was heavily criticised after their painful 4-0 defeat to PSG in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup.
Carreras made 52 official appearances for Benfica last season, 50 of them starts, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
