In a life or death match at Valdebebas, Real Madrid started brilliantly against Inter and had a good half-hour that translated into a vital 1-0 advantage.
The goal came in the 25th minute and was the work of a Karim Benzema who made the most of an error that could mark the future of the Milan side in Europe's top competition.
Said error was curiously from an ex-Madrid player Achraf Hakimi who, harassed on the wing, looked for a pass from the halfway line to goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
However, it was more than defective and instead of going to the Slovenian goalkeeper's feet, it ended up with the French striker getting the ball completely unmarked.
Benzema, with class, took it round the Inter keeper with a simple touch and, after avoiding falling, knocked the ball into the back of the net.
