After Leicester's unforeseeable title triumph this season, it seems as though loads of punters are trying their luck and have backed recently promoted Burnely to be crowned champions.
A few lucky fans backed Leicester at the start of the season on the mouthwatering 5,000/1 odds they were placed at, and it seems as though punters are hoping to cash out on huge sums with Burnley next season.
On the same day that Leicester were crowned champions, Sean Dyche's Burnley secured promotion to the Premier League and it seems as though bookmakers are already dreading another shock winner next season.
It has been reported that Sky Bet alone are already facing a loss of £10million having received over a thousand bets on Burnley winning the title in 2016-17, an amount which almost doubles the £5.6m they had to pay out to those who backed Leicester.
After their promotion Burnley were given the odds of 5,000/1 which ironically is the same as those Leicester were given, but since all of the bets have been placed, these odds have been slashed to 1,000/1.
"As the Football League sponsor, we were expecting interest from fans when we added Burnley into the title betting, but what followed has been quite remarkable and unprecedented," said Sky Bet's Dale Tempest.
"Just 128 backed Leicester at the start of this season and we have already got well over a thousand bets on Burnley, making for some pretty frightening reading in our outright book."
