Inter Milan's honourary president Massimo Moratti has urged the club to sign Dimitri Payet.
Following their takeover by Chinese investors the Suning Group, the Serie A side have a huge €242 million war chest at their disposal this summer.
Moratti believes the West Ham midfielder could transform the Nerazzurri in to serious title contenders, a reputation which has been stripped from the club in recent years.
"As a fan, I would love to see Payet in an Inter shirt. However, the champions [Juventus] are currently elusive, you have to be lucky enough to find the right opportunity [to challenge for the title]," he told reporters.
"We are missing two or three players to be competitive, so we need to make signings. The important thing is to have solid players that ensure we have a level of consistency."
However, it won't be easy luring the midfielder to the San Siro, with West Ham reluctant to let him go, whilst other clubs like Chelsea and PSG are also interested.
