Zidane refused to be Xavi's substitute at Al Sadd

Zidane could have been the current Al Sadd coach. The Qatari side had their eyes on him as a candidate to replace Xavi Hernandez, but he rejected it. 'Telemadrid' announced the news and 'Mundo Deportivo' announced it. The now Barcelona coach left a big hole at the club, not only on the bench, but also in the club's international presence.

The former Real Madrid coach meets all the requirements in order to take the job. He is well known internationally and is known for being one of the best players in recent history. In addition, he has plenty of experience in the elite because of his past at Real Madrid where his departure were not abrupt. They were obvious ends to the cycle. 

Ramon Fuentes has told 'Mundo Deportivo' that Zidane, at the moment, does not want to return to the bench. He will only do it immediately if he is called by PSG or France. These two options do not seem likely. Didier Deschamps and Mauricio Pochettino's positions are not under threat. 

Al Sadd are facing the difficult search for a coach to replace Xavi. The coach applied a different style of play and loyal to Barca who caused a stir in the Qatari league. That has led to outstanding results and several trophies.
