A new look Barcelona is on the way. Or at least, that is the president Joan Laporta and the rest of the board's intention. They have now made the first move with the approval and then activation of the extra financing at last Thursday's extraordinary assembly.
One of the main objectives of this, as well as getting rid of the club's debt, is to have more freedom to make signings to bolster the squad next season.
Precisely, after this, two of the main faces of Barca's new project, Xavi Hernandez and Laporta, planned ahead for the 2022-23 season.
Lewandowski and Kounde, an absolute priority
The main aspect talked about by Xavi and Laporta was that of new signings. Out of all the names on the table at Barcelona, Xavi considers Lewandowski and Kounde to be a priority. He wants them to join the squad in time for the American tour.
Lewandowski's signings seems to be advanced and Barca are willing, according to 'AS', to pay up to 40 million euros. It is a different story for the Frenchman as his 80 million euros buyout clause is impossible for Barcelona.
It is for that reason that the board are hoping to include a player in the deal to reduce the price. One of those who is most likely to be included is American player Sergino Dest.
The rest of the names which appear as possible reinforcements were also mentioned although these are considered less important. That is the case of Raphinha, who they do not want to send a large amount of money on. Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso, Christensen and Kessie are waiting to see what happens.
