Why did Lautaro reject Real Madrid when he was younger?

After impressing in Argentina, Lautaro Martinez ended up joining Inter Milan a couple of seasons ago. His career has taken off ever since and he is already one of the best strikers playing in Europe.
Now Barcelona want him, but it wasn't always that way. The striker came close to signing for Atletico and even Valencia had opportunities to sign him.
Even Real Madrid thought about signing him when he was even younger, but Lautaro didn't want to rush it. As 'AS' reports, it seems that his former club Racing recommended him not to sign for Los Blancos.
The head of the youth team of Racing, Adrian Ruben Fernandez, explained: "I convinced him to reject Real Madrid. I told Lautaro that he hadn't shown anything yet at Racing and that he would get better offers."
Fernandez recalled that Racing fell in love with the star in a matter of minutes when he was a kid. "It was an incredible thing. The quality he had in the ball controls with the two profiles, good punch with both legs and not to mention the air game. He was incredible," he continued.
To conclude, the head of the youth team said he sees him at Barcelona, but he did not rule out that he could succeed anywhere: "Barça is a possession team and I think I would be more comfortable there, but it is so good that it does not matter which club I play at".
