After spending several months without a team, Hatem Ben Arfa committed this month to Bordeaux Girondins, his sixth French side having previously enjoyed spells at Rennes, Nice, PSG, Lyon, and Marseille.
During his unveiling, the player overlooked his frustrating spell at Real Valladolid and focussed on his new project back in French football.
He acknowledged his desire to return to working under Jean-Louis Gasset, who he knows from his time playing for the French national team.
"When I saw that the coach was Jean-Louis Gasset, I wanted to work with him again. I like his philosophy and how is both as a person and as a coach. It still feels like a historic club and that was what helped my decide", declared Ben Arfa.
The French player, who has signed a one year deal with an option to extend, signed up to be able to play under the attacking French manager.
"I really enjoy playing for his teams. He is someone who plays attacking football. As a person, I know him from the French national team and he always inspired me", concluded the Frenchmen who will be hoping to put his La Liga experience behind him.
