The midfielder was brought on at half-time to replace Arthur, however he was not able to turn the game around as the LaLiga champions still ended up losing the game 3-4.
The defeat was the first time that a team had put four past Barcelona at home since 2003, and the Barça players recognised the seriousness of the result.
"We started the game poorly and they made the most of the chances they had, but we gifted them those chances. We can't keep losing points at home, we have to improve a lot of things." the Chilean said after the final whistle.
"Teams can't come here and score four goals. When it was 1-2 we thought that we could win, but it was a tough lesson to take. We have to avoid making mistakes" he added.
Neither the goal he scored nor Messi's brace could stop the team being beaten, and Vidal warned that performances like that can't be repeated: "We are still top of the league, but if we want to win LaLiga and the Champions League we have to be a lot better."
