VIDEO: Unai Simon after beating Switzerland on penalties

The Spanish national team played their quarter-final against Switzerland at the Krestovsky Stadium in St Petersburg. It was a hard fought match, in which they took the lead with an own goal by Zakaria after a shot by Jordi Alba. Switzerland's equaliser came in the second half after a defensive error in the Spanish team was capitalised on by Shaqiri after an assist from Freuler, who was sent off 10 minutes later. Embolo's early injury also affected Vladimir Petkovic's plans.

Spain could not take advantage of having an extra player and the game went into extra time. Half an hour with chances for both teams, but it was to end with no more goals on the scoreboard. 

The match went to penalties and even though Spain started off poorly, a great performance by Unai Simon, who received the Man of the Match, qualified the Spaniards for the semi-finals. You can listen to what he had to say in the video above.

Spain now awaits its next opponent, which will be Italy after beating one of the favourites, Belgium. The next match will be on Tuesday at 21:00.
