'Unacceptable': Ex-Arsenal skipper slams Arteta for repeating transfer mistakes

With just 10 league matches remaining, Arsenal find themselves 15 points behind runaway leaders Liverpool and on track to finish as runners-up for a third consecutive year. Despite strong seasons in 2022 and 2023, the Gunners have struggled in their bid to claim the league crown, with their failure to sign a striker being a key factor.
William Gallas, who made 142 appearances for Arsenal between 2006 and 2010, placed the blame squarely on Arteta's shoulders. "The failure to sign a striker for two seasons is completely unacceptable," he said in an interview with Prime Casino. "It shows that Arteta is not the right guy for Arsenal to win the league."
The Frenchman believes the inability to address this key issue has hindered the Gunners' progress. "He had the opportunity to do it, he didn't do it," Gallas added. "The best managers make the right decisions at the right time. World-class managers do whatever it takes to win the Premier League."
Arsenal's failure to strengthen their attack in the summers of 2023 and 2024 has been a glaring oversight, according to Gallas. "Top managers don't make the same mistake two seasons running," he said. "It's unacceptable for Arsenal to keep making the same mistakes with the same manager."
