UEFA could ban Barca from European competitions for up to five years

UEFA announced in a statement that it is investigating FC Barcelona following the information it has received about the 'Negreira affaire'. The organisation has already informed FC Barcelona and a file has been opened.
Manu Carreño gave the latest news on this issue on 'El Larguero'. UEFA, if it is proven that Barca breached the regulations, could leave Xavi's side out of European competitions. A punishment that, according to the regulations, could last up to five years if it is determined that they violated UEFA's legal framework. In such a case, it would not be able to play in the Champions League or the Europa League.
According to this source, the body chaired by Ceferin "is very serious". Two inspectors are going to get into the case to find out why Barcelona paid Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees.
"UEFA will ask for an exemplary punishment for Barcelona. Ceferin does not want what he asks for to be denied by CAS, but he will demand a historic sanction," said Manu Carreno. "We'll see what happens..." he added.
