Two titles and four wins without Simeone

Atletico Madrid did not struggle so much with Simeone banned from the dugout in the Spanish side's last four European clashes. The Argentine was punished in the semi-finals of last season's Europe League for insulting referee Turpin, who had sent off Vrsaljko moments before against Arsenal.
That particular game ended 1-1. It was the away leg, so Simeone had to watch from the stands in the Wanda Metropolitano as his team chased qualification for the final. Diego Costa was Atleti's hero that day, scoring the only goal on the stroke of half-time.
Then came the final in Lyon, in which Griezmann became a 'Colchonero' legend with a stellar performance. Atleti defeated Olympique Marseille and added another title to their trophy cabinet.
Two matches were left of his ban, and just one more after the European Super Cup. In it, Simeone made key changes although it was a far from perfect performance. Atleti suffered a lot, but added yet another trophy to their honours list.
And, finally, the victory in Monaco. Simeone's absence, therefore, ended with four wins, two trophies, ten goals scored and only two conceded.
