Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel complained that a penalty for handball by Gabriel Magalhaes was not called in the second half of their Champions League quarter-final first leg draw against Arsenal.

Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel was outraged by Gabriel Magalhaes' non-penalty in his side's draw against the Gunners in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-finals tie, which the referee did not award as a "kid mistake".

The incident occurred in the 67th minute of the match between Arsenal and Bayern Munich, when David Raya took a goal kick and Gabriel took the ball with his hand to put it in and kick it out without realising that the ball was already in play. The German players protested the action, claiming it was a penalty, but Swedish referee Nyberg told the German side's players it was a kid mistake and that he could not call that in a Champions League quarter-final.

"I think the referee didn't have the courage to call a clear penalty in a crazy and weird situation. What makes us really angry is the explanation on the pitch. He told our players it was a 'kid's mistake' and he won't give a penalty for that in a Champions League quarterfinal," he said.

"It's a horrible, horrible explanation. Kid's mistake, adult's mistake, whatever - we feel angry because it was a huge decision against us," Tuchel told a news conference.

After the penalty was not given by the referee, Arsenal equalised and the tie will be decided in Germany next week.
