Tottenham captain Son considered for exit as LAFC talks progress

Los Angeles FC is making progress in negotiations to sign Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min, according to journalists Tom Bogert and Ben Jacobs. The 33-year-old South Korean striker has only one year left on his contract with Spurs, who are willing to facilitate his departure this summer.
Son is currently part of Tottenham's pre-season tour of Asia and is contractually obliged to play in the friendly against Newcastle United on 3 August in South Korea. If the club sells the player before that match, they risk losing a significant portion of the commercial revenue generated during the tour.
After returning to London, Son will hold talks with coach Thomas Frank to assess his role and playing time for the coming season. Tottenham will not stand in his way if the player decides to take on a new professional challenge, whether in the MLS or elsewhere, although they have not ruled out keeping him until the end of his contract.
LAFC is confident of finalising the signing at the end of the transfer window, although it is competing with offers from Saudi Arabia, where they would be willing to offer up to $40 million for Son. The player is considered a true legend by the London club's fans after playing 454 games and scoring 173 goals since his arrival in 2015.
