The player who forced Henry out of Barcelona

"How do you know when it's the end of your career?" Thierry Henry was asked, in an interview with 'Sky Sports'. "When you start to go on the bench more often than not!" the Frenchman replied with a smile.
"That happened to me at Barcelona, because Pedro came out...I always say: if you leave the door open and allow a player to get in, he's going to close the door on you. And he did."
The ex-Barcelona forward cited this as the moment when he knew he had to leave the club. "I knew it was time for me to leave Europe and go the MLS and have another challenge, and see something else," he revealed.
When you look at the statistics, they tell the same story. In his last season at Barca Henry only scored four times in 32 appearances, while the Spanish forward bagged 23 goals in 52.
And so ended Henry's time in Catalonia, where he had got what he came for: a Champions League trophy. He departed for America, playing for the New York Red Bulls for four years before retiring for good in 2014.
