The lowest point tally in 13 years for the next LaLiga champion

The title that Capello's Real Madrid snatched from Barcelona after an unexpected comeback went down in history. That season, moreover, was recorded as the last one won with the lowest score to date, 53 points. The current progression speaks of a new version of that final. 

The leaders have taken the leap in the last three rounds, with Zidane's men having giving the lead to Barça twice despite winning the Clasico 2-0. So, there is no sign of a comeback like that, but there is an alternation that suggests they will continue to drop points in the remaining 11 rounds.

It seems that the 100-point league title has become a thing of the past. 

In Round 27, a glance at the latest standings at that point in the season will tell you that Barcelona's 58 points are the lowest of Frank Rijkaard's 53 points in the same section in the 06-07 season.  

In fact, since then, no leader had dropped below 60 points. The 62 of Real Madrid in the 07-08 appeared as the lowest level after their victory with Capello. 

Barcelona and Real Madrid are not the teams they used to be. Four draws and five defeats for Barcelona, eight and three in the case of Madrid... And if these numbers are any indication, both teams could potentially drop more points.  

Barça reached its peak in season 10-11, when at this point they had 74 points; Madrid sublimated just the year after, with 73. Both would end up confirming the final victory in round 38.
