Ten Hag stunned by early Leverkusen sacking: "I wasn't given time or trust"

B. Leverkusen raised eyebrows by announcing the dismissal of Erik ten Hag on deadline day. A mere three competitive games were all it took for the German club to sever ties with the Dutchman, who has expressed his outrage at the decision.
In a statement released by his representatives, Ten Hag lashed out at the B. Leverkusen hierarchy: "The decision by the B. Leverkusen board to suspend me this morning came as a complete shock. Sacking a manager after only two league games is unprecedented."
"This summer, several key players who had contributed to previous successes departed the squad. Building a new, cohesive team is a delicate process that requires time and belief," argued the former Manchester United boss.
"A new manager deserves the freedom to implement his vision, set the tone, mould the team, and leave his mark on the style of play," added Ten Hag, criticising the impatience shown by the B. Leverkusen management: "I took on this role with complete conviction and energy, but unfortunately, the management was unwilling to give me the necessary time or trust, which I deeply regret. I feel that this was never a relationship based on mutual trust."
Furthermore, Ten Hag defended his managerial record: "Every season I have completed as a manager has been a success. The clubs that have placed their trust in me have been rewarded with success and silverware."
"Finally, I would like to thank the B. Leverkusen fans for their warmth and passion, and wish the team and coaching staff every success for the remainder of the season," he concluded.
