Swansea V Liverpool - Preview and possible lineups

Swansea: Right-back Kyle Naughton is available for selection once again after completing a three-match ban and should slot straight back in, whilst fellow defender Mike Van der Hoorn and midfielder Renato Sanchez are expected to start after shaking off hamstring problems. Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham continues to struggle with an abdominal complaint.

Liverpool: Centre-back Virgil van Dijk could make his first league start following his big-money move from Southampton after he recovered from a hamstring strain, whilst star man Mohamed Salah and defenders Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan are available once again after a bout of flu. Captain Jordan Henderson and left-back Alberto Moreno are back in training after hamstring and ankle injuries respectively but this game is expected to come too soon for them. 

The thoughts of Carlos Carvalhal:

"It's David versus Goliath, but surprises do happen and we will be ready to prepare a surprise on Monday.

"They have strong points, but a team that lets in three has weak points also.

"So let's try and exploit that and hide the strong points that they do have."

"I can't imagine any easy games in the Premier League and Swansea is for sure not an easy game.

"We played Swansea a few weeks ago with a caretaker manager and I said after the game it was much more difficult than the result could make you think, so we know about the specific challenge in this game.

"They are bottom of the table but they are in a good way. What you have seen since the new manager has come in is a big improvement again: much better results and they won their FA Cup replay during the week."
