Scholes reveals Man Utd player sought meeting over his criticism

Old Trafford legend Paul Scholes has become known for his outspoken views on his former club, particularly as they have struggled in recent years. Much like his former teammate Roy Keane, Scholes is unafraid to voice his opinions, often offering direct criticism of players.
The 50-year-old revealed on The Overlap Fan Debate that one of the current squad members contacted him this year, "unhappy" with the pundit's comments. The player even requested to meet him at the training ground to have a discussion.
The former player recounted: "Players can be a little bit touchy these days. I had a player [currently at the club] contact me, unhappy with some of the things I said. He wanted to meet me at the training ground, and I said, 'Of course, no problem,' and gave him my number, but he never got back to me.
"I would have done it. If I'm saying things I believe and he wants me to explain why, it wouldn't have been a nice conversation, but I said if they or anyone else has a problem, there's my phone number."
