Sane undergoes groin surgery after Germany Euro exit

Germany international Leroy Sane underwent groin surgery after the quarter-final between his country and Spain in Munich. According to a statement from Bayern Munich, the winger underwent endoscopy between the abdominal muscles and the peritoneum and remained in hospital for a day.

He aims to recover in three to four weeks before returning to the Bavarian club to train under new coach Vincent Kompany and will be back on the pitch at the start of training on 29 July.

Before the European Championships, the forward, who was already unable to train in the final weeks of last season, told 'Sport Bild' in an interview that he "couldn't be sure if he was really fit".

After the intense pain, Sane had no alternative but surgery. The 28-year-old took all the risks in the local tournament with national coach Julian Nagelsmann, but the surgery was unavoidable after his country's elimination.

During the Euro 2024 match against Spain, according to 'Bild', his pubic bone problems resurfaced. The German felt pain and could no longer run or shoot properly.
