Other countries, such as Portugal and England, have already finished their non-professional football competitions in advance, and Spain values following the same path. The RFEF has proposed it to the Superior Council of Sports.
In Tuesday's meeting between the RFEF and CSD, there was talk of how amateur football could overcome the coronavirus crisis. The aim is to provide a single framework of legal, social and economic security for clubs and footballers.
At the meeting, it was agreed that the Federation will propose next week to the regional leagues to end the regular season. The idea is that the model should be uniform in all the autonomous communities.
This early end wouldn't mean the cancellation of the season. In fact, the intention is to play an express promotion playoff, to ensure at least those that were planned at the beginning of the year.
The consequence of this will be the widening of leagues next season, as there wouldn't be relegations. Or either the groups will be expanded, or new ones will be created. This situation could last up to four seasons, until everything is rebalanced again.
These measures would affect the 3rd and 4th tiers, as well as all female football and futsal at a national level, as well as youth football. What to do with the lower tiers is still a matter of debate.
