Qatar explain Messi's tunic

Chief Executive Officer of the Supreme Committee for the Organisation and Legacy of Qatar 2022 Hassan Al Thawadi explained that the bisht, the traditional cape-like garment in the Middle East which Qatar's current emir dressed Messi in before he lifted the trophy, is worn "to celebrate important moments" in life.
"It's one of our official clothes. We always wear it for important events, to celebrate important moments in our life", he said to the press after summarising the World Cup.
What is more, he did not want to go into whether another player would have worn the garment if Argentina had not won the trophy.
"Yes, I think so. But it was Messi Why are we talking about what could've been", he answered.
Hassan Al Thawadi seemed reflective about what he experienced throughout Qatar 2022. "A successful and wonderful World Cup. On the pitch, it was maginificent and off it, the fans' reactions made for a really great cultural World Cup", he claimed.
