Peter Bosz returns to the Eredivisie to coach PSV

Former Dutch footballer Peter Bosz has signed a contract with PSV Eindhoven as their new coach for the next three years, the club confirmed on Monday. The 59-year-old will lead his first training session on July 3rd and will be in charge of the Dutch side for a period of at least three years because, according to the club's technical director Earnest Stewart, he "was the ideal candidate" for this "crucial position".

"From the very first moment, I felt affection. Both PSV and myself are hungry for success. Last season we won two awards, but our goal is to become national champions. And we are going for that," Bosz said in the statement announcing him as the new coach of the Eindhoven side.

Bosz is no stranger to the Eredivisie dugouts, PSV recalls, having previously coached Vitesse Arnhem, Heracles Almelo and Ajax Amsterdam, with whom he reached the Europa League final. He then made his coaching debut in Germany with Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen and in the last two years he coached Olympique Lyon in France, who sacked him last October.

The PSV player says he has spoken "extensively" with Bosz about the vision, the style of play and the players. "I believe that the combination of the national team and my way of playing can lead to success. PSV have had periods in the past when they dominated Dutch football. I want to relive those times," the coach stressed.

Bosz succeeds Ruud van Nistelrooy, who resigned as PSV coach on 24th May after several internal discussions with the PSV board, according to the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Malaga striker himself.
