'Our paths may cross again' - De Gea's special message after Old Trafford return

David de Gea is one of the most iconic goalkeepers in Manchester United's history alongside Edwin van der Sar, and the Spanish goalkeeper's departure from the Manchester club in the summer of 2023 was undoubtedly painful news for Red Devils fans.
Two years after leaving England, the Fiorentina goalkeeper returned to Old Trafford for the first time in a friendly between the Italian team and Ruben Amorim's side, which ended in victory for the home side on penalties after the match ended in a 1-1 draw, with goals from Simon Sohm and Gosens (own goal).
After the match, De Gea wanted to send a special message via social media to Manchester United fans, saying that his return to Old Trafford and the tribute he received was ‘a magical moment’.
"A magical moment for me and my family to come back to Old Trafford - my home From the bottom of my heart - I want to say thank you for the reception - for all the love you shown me today. To the supporters that never stopped being with me throughout my time at this club. Our paths may cross again but for today.. We've seen it all," he wrote.
