Phillip Cocu is no longer manager of Fenerbahce. The Turkish side lost at home (1-3) to Ankaragucu, a result that leaves a team equipped to fight for the title within a point of the relegation zone.
Cocu, who had already been under pressure for several weeks, was automatically dismissed. Fenerbahce confirmed this in a brief statement on their official site: "Cocu has been dismissed from his post as of tonight".
The Dutchman has not been able to take advantage of a squad that, at least for domestic competition, must be good enough to be at the top with Skrtel, Isla and Slimani some of their most important players.
Now begins a new era at Fenerbahce, which could turn to Roberto Carlos. The Brazilian, who previously played for the 'Yellow Canaries', is one of the favourites to take over.
