Neymar had not received a double yellow card for a year

PSG had Neymar sent off for two yellow cards as the Brazilian made an unhappy return to action following his country's elimination in the World Cup quarter-finals. The Brazilian striker picked up a yellow for a petulant flick in the face of a Strasbourg player and then earned another for a blatant dive in the penalty area just after the hour.
This had not happened to him since 30th April 2021, in PSG's 1-0 defeat at Lille. These are two of Neymar's five dismissals for Paris Saint-Germain.
The previous three come on 13th September 2020, in Marseille's 1-0 win over his team, when he received his second yellow card in the 99th minute; on 23rd February 2020, in PSG 4-3 clash against Girondins Bordeaux in the 92nd minute; and on 22nd October 2017 with two yellow cards in a short space of time, between the 85th and 87th minute.
Neymar was sent off on seven other occasions throughout his professional career, five of them with Santos, one with the Brazilian national team and one with Barcelona.
