Brazil want Carlo Ancelotti to coach the team and Ednaldo Rodrigues, the president of the CBF, is working on it. The excitement is such that, in the country, it is taken for granted that the coach will leave Real Madrid and take the reins of the 'Selecao' next year.
It is not only the press or the fans who believe in Ancelotti's option. Neymar, at a charity event for the Neymar Jr Institute, openly mentioned the Italian as a possible coach. "We will have the opportunity to have a foreign coach. Ancelotti has won everything and I'm sure he will teach us a lot," he said with conviction.
Rodrygo, at the same event, said he didn't want to "talk" because he didn't know too much about it, but he did refer to him as his possible coach. "He is Brazil's plan A. The president is counting on him and we want him too. For me, for Vini, for Militao... we know him from Real Madrid and we know his greatness," he said.
"Having him in the national team will be very important, but nothing is confirmed yet. We hope that when his contract is up, he will come," he added.
Real Madrid also seem to be looking to the future. The plan is to keep Ancelotti until June 2024, when his contract expires. By then, Xabi Alonso would take over, according to the latest reports.
