Monaco:
Monaco have endured a tough start to life in Ligue 1, sitting 15th on 5 points after just one win in their first five matches.
Both Danijel Subasic and Alexsandr Golovin are struggling for match fitness after fine performances at the World Cup for Croatia and Russia respectively. Rony Lopes, Pietro Pellegri and Andrea Raggi are all unavailable through injury.
Atletico:
Like their opponents, Atletico Madrid have one win in the league and just five points, although after only four fixtures this leaves them in a more creditable 8th position in La Liga. Nonetheless, they have plenty to play for in the hopes of injecting some life into their season.
Lucas Hernandez, Santiago Arias, Vitolo and Nikola Kalinic are injured and will play no part in the game.
Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim on the quality of his team's opponents:
"They are a renowned team: Atletico won the Europa League last season and have been Champions League finalists twice in recent years. They have talented players with a lot of experience. We will try and win and to achieve our goal, which is to qualify for the knockout stages. The Champions League is always very difficult. There are a lot of big teams involved."
Atletico manager Diego Simeone on his ambitions for this season's Champions League:
"We're not thinking further than the group. We don't have the luxury of thinking ahead of Monaco. If we keep thinking one game at a time and keep growing, destiny will take us wherever it takes us. But to get there, we have to win first."
