Mbappe officially OUT of Olympic Games

Players from Spanish teams who were in contention for France's 2024 Olympic Games squad have been left out of Thierry Henry's list. The list was made official on Monday morning through the social networks of the French Football Federation. The only ‘veteran’ who will represent France in Paris will be Alexandre Lacazette -33 years old-, who has been given permission by Olympique Lyon.

Neither Kylian Mbappe, who is about to be confirmed as a new Real Madrid signing, nor Eduardo Camavinga or Aurelien Tchouameni are in the squad. Nor is Antoine Griezmann, who plays for Atletico. It seems that the attempts of the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, to get these teams to give in have fallen on deaf ears. The president had been publicly suggesting for several months that he had been working to strengthen the national team.

The coach himself, at the press conference following the publication of his choices, complained: "The last time I received so many rejections was at the University. There have been no negotiations. You go, you ask, they say no and you leave. The official from Real Madrid I spoke to about the Olympics was very direct with me". It is clear, from these words, that ‘Merengues’ and ‘Colchoneros’ have been closed to even reaching a middle ground in order to take care of the physical condition of their players in the run-up to the 24-25.

Midfielders: Maghnes Akliouche, Joris Chotard, Désiré Doué, Manu Koné, Enzo Millot, Khephren Thuram, Lesley Ugochukwu, Warren Zaïre-Emery.

Forwards: Bradley Barcola, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Alexandre Lacazette, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Michael Olise and Mathys Tel.
