Liverpool assistant coach Johnny Heitinga is in advanced talks to become Ajax's new manager. The English club have given the Dutchman permission to enter into talks with the Amsterdam outfit, who are looking for a coach following the resignation of Francesco Farioli.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, talks between Heitinga and Ajax are at an advanced stage. Meanwhile, Anfield have already begun the process of finding a replacement on Arne Slot's coaching staff.
The Liverpool board believe it is key to fill the vacancy quickly to ensure the stability of the sporting project. Heitinga, who has been Slot's right-hand man, has experience of both Eredivisie and English football.
The final decision could be announced in the next few days, once the last contractual details between the two parties have been finalised.
