Lindelof forced to exit Lyon clash following son’s accident

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof departed Old Trafford at half-time of the club’s dramatic 5-4 Europa League win over Lyon due to an urgent family matter.
His wife, Maja, later revealed that their youngest son, Francis, had suffered a severe head injury at home just before the match began. “An hour before the (Lyon) game started, our babysitter called and said they were in an ambulance on the way to hospital,” Maja explained.
Francis had fallen into a glass staircase while chasing his brother, resulting in a serious wound that required plastic surgery and anaesthesia. “His forehead was in two parts. He was in hospital both Thursday and Friday,” Maja said.
Despite the ordeal, the operation was successful and Francis is now recovering well. “The operation went well, and Francis is back on track. He is a Viking, and back to normal,” Maja added.
Lindelof’s swift departure was unrelated to the match itself, and he is expected to return to the squad soon. The club and fans have expressed their support for the Lindelof family during this difficult time.
