There are players who thrive under pressure or in difficult atmospheres. And given what we have seen, that seems to be Lautaro Martinez's case. While many people have been talking about him, he has concentrated on scoring goals.
There has been talk about it for months, but in recent weeks, rumours linking him with a move away from Inter Milan have intensified. They have mainly been to move to Barcelona where his international teammate Leo Messi is. He would be to replace Luis Suarez.
They were intense days which saw activity in Lautaro Martinez's inner circle. It is said that the Argentine had a verbal agreement with Barca, but Inter's asking price was too much. And Barca's finances do not allow them to make big signings.
There was talk of him having reached an agreement with Real Madrid while Inter were offering him a new contract. The truth is that it seems difficult that he will leave Milan this summer, but sometimes it is easier to get distracted when there is a lot of talk about you.
But this is not what has happened to Martinez. He has been brilliant in pre-season and combined superbly with Romelu Lukaku. He has scored seven goals in three matches for Inter in pre-season.

He scored two in the 5-0 win over Lugano, another two in the 7-0 victory over Carrarese and a hat-trick in Inter's 7-0 defeat of Pisa. He has been one of the main men of Inter's pre-season together with Alexis Sanchez and this week he was once again called up by Argentina for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
We will have to wait another week to see Lautaro Martinez back in Serie A action as they do not begin their league campaign until next Saturday. That game is against Fiorentina.
