Barcelona may be champions of the Copa del Rey, but the season hasn't been entirely flattering for the club. Ronald Koeman's arrival and the light exodus of certain key players in the Barca dressing room promised to revolutionise a side that eventually finished their worst season in the Camp Nou since 2004.
In that campaign in 2004, the Catalan side totalled 36 points at home. In this current one, they have achieved just two points more with 38. Between 2004 and 2020, Barca have never recorded such poor amounts, and in fact have never slipped below less than the 44 points achieved in the 2007/08 season.
This weakness at home was made clear over the course of eight encounters in which the side dropped points. These included 'El Clasico' against Madrid which they lost 1-3, a 1-1 draw with Sevilla, 2-2 against Valencia, 1-1 with Eibar, 1-1 against Cadiz, a 1-2 defeat to Granada, a goalless 0-0 draw with Atletico and finally a 1-2 loss to Celta.
Some of these stats, such as the games against Madrid and Atletico, looked difficult from the start, and the dressing room were aware that they might not come out on top. However, other matches saw Barcelona become surprising victims. Results against recently promoted Cadiz as well as Eibar, who have since been relegated to the Second Division, were prime examples of matches that Barcelona should have won.
