Kenya disqualified from Under 20 World Cup qualifying

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed the decision on Wednesday, following an investigation which found that Kenya used ineligible players during the first leg of a qualifier for next year's Africa Cup of Nations, which also serves as the World Cup qualifying tournament, against Sudan on April 3 which ended 1-1.
The statement comes just days before Kenya were due to host Sudan for the second-leg, with CAF giving Sudan a place in the next round, for the competition which will have its finals in Zambia in 2017.
African football's governing body revealed that Kenya's Theodore Kibet, Nicholas Kipkirui, Eugene Moses, Boniface Muchiri and Erick Ouma were all born before the cut off date of January 1, 1997.
"Football Kenya Federation clearly violated the competition regulations and is consequently disqualified and the U-20 Sudan team is qualified to the next round," CAF general secretary Hicham El Amrani wrote in a letter sent to the Kenyans.
Age cheating has affected African football a lot in the past, and it is no doubt still ongoing, with teams failing to get punished or even caught.
