The Champions League final, with poor performances but a positive result for Liverpool, disappointed those who were hoping for an open and beautiful match. Andrea Pirlo did not hide it in 'Sky Sport' and was quite demanding with both teams. For the former Italian player, it's the fans in the stands that actuallly made the difference.
"The match was won by the Liverpool fans," he said, referring to how Anfield's fans were crammed in. "Tottenham had no personality, people like Alli or Eriksen did not want the ball," continued the transalpino.
Pirlo acknowledged that the result had little to do with actual the player's performance, and that other factors weighed more heavily on the pitch. "There was little quality in the midfield and what happened at the start set the game off track. Anyway, it was a well deserved victory because of the season completed by Liverpool and their fans' support" continued the former footballer.
Aditionally, Pirlo's closing comments in the panel were a surprising attack on Divock Origi, who has since received praise from all over the world for scoring the second goal. "If he hadn't scored, they should have hit him. He did not have the attitude expected in a Champions League final. Therefore, I did not like it," he said, with fabio Capello agreeing.
