Defender Jordi Alba is looking for a new destination. The player has decided to put an end to his career at the Catalan giants and will leave the Camp Nou on 30th June. He is free to sign for the team of his choice, but has not yet committed himself to anyone.
In an interview with 'The Guardian', Jordi Alba said that the decision was his own and not Barcelona's. "The club and the president gave me the opportunity to choose, I had earned that right. I thought about it and I agreed with my family: it was the right time to leave," he said.
He regretted the criticism he has received, often for no reason, but believes that his commitment was demonstrated when he gave up 60% of his salary: "There have been so many lies.... Sometimes people mix players up with things that have nothing to do with them. In the end the truth has come out. The president, who is in charge, who has all the accounts, said that I left well and that they are grateful".
"I have always said that I am not the problem, I have a clear conscience. I did things right and I helped the club at all times. Barca know the efforts I have made at certain times. They gave me the opportunity to stay one more year and it would have been very easy, it's my home. But I thought the right thing to do, the fair thing to do, the honest thing to do, was to step aside. Nobody forced me," he concluded.
