"I trained for Real Madrid while I was drunk"

Full-back Cicinho arrived at Real Madrid in January 2006 and he was at the club until August 2007. Cicinho has admitted that he has always had a problem with alcohol. "I only smoked when I drank... but I drank all day," he said a few years back.
This time, the Brazilian has spoken to 'EPTV'. The former footballer admitted that he trained drunk when he was playing. "If you're asking me if I ever went to train at Real Madrid drunk, yes I did," Cicinho revealed.
He also explained how he did it so it did not become obvious. "I drunk coffee to get rid of the bad breath. I then bathed myself in perfume. In my profession, as a professional player, it was easy," he continued.
He also revealed that he was never short of alcohol. "I didn't need money to get alcohol, people were gladly giving it to me in restaurants," the ex-player added.
His addiction, he explained, comes from when he was a kid. "I was 13 when I tried for the first time... and I never stopped. I was living in the countryside and on the weekends, we met with friends. We were going to the squares, clubs and I was was asking the adults to let us go and buy stuff. I was drinking without my parents or the police knowing."
If there is something Cicinho regrets it is the alcohol he tool. "Alcohol makes you be around people who like that lifestyle and those who actually love you are excluded. When they say you aren't well, you don't want to hear it. I have a 15 year-old son and I'm always apologising. At that moment, he was two and he didn't even understand it properly, but that stuck in my head," he concluded.
