Olympique Lyon beat Saint-Etienne 2-1, but struggled once again in doing so. Still in no man's land in Ligue 1, Memphis Depay spoke to 'Téléfoot' about the team's disappointing performance.
"The title should be our main objective, but I can't say everything I think or see. There are things I can't talk about," said the Dutch player, who arrived with the idea of fighting to win the championship and Lyon didn't come close.
"Lyon are a great club and the players who come here have to realise that. They come here to win trophies and the signings should have that mentality," said the 26-year-old, clearly frustrated.
As for his future, with Barcelona and other Italian clubs always looking out for him, Depay did not want to make any promises to the Lyon fans: "I'm not going to make any promises that I'm not sure I'll keep. We should take advantage of the fact that I'm still here".
After a summer in which he was very close to arriving at Barca, Depay was forced to stay at Lyon because of the battered Barcelona economy. The 'culés' are planning to try to sign him again in the winter market or, if they don't, they will try to tie him up at zero cost in June 2021.
