"I am sure that in Spain we will smash them"

Attacker Nico Williams, scorer of Spain's opening goal in Rotterdam against the Netherlands, stressed that the national team always "strives for excellence", went for the win and in the end, when losing, avoided defeat to settle the Nations League clash in Valencia on Sunday.
"We always want excellence, we want to win. This national team instils that in you. We really want to go to Valencia and win. We have shown that we compete and that we don't give up," said the Athletic player in the mixed zone.
Nico highlighted that the match against the Netherlands was a "tough and very intense match". "We knew that they put a lot of intensity, they have a great team. But we are not going to give up. We are not a team that just plays," he said.
Referring to the tifo of Van Persie scoring against Spain at the 2014 World Cup, the younger Williams had this message: "I haven't seen it, but Andres Iniesta was the one who scored the goal that won Spain the World Cup against the Netherlands. I'm expecting something big for the second leg. I'm sure we're going to smash them in Spain".
The Athletic striker scored Spain's first goal. "We have a very high pressure. Lamine Yamal stole the ball and passed it to Pedri and then he passed it to me. I'm happy for the goal and for the team and I hope more will come," he said.
