Shanghai SIPG made headlines when Chelsea accepted their bid of £60m last month for Brazilian midfielder Oscar, who will reportedly earn £500,000 a week at the Chinese club.
But fellow Brazilian Hulk, who had moved to Shanghai from Zenit St Petersbourg last summer, insisted that money was not the determining factor in bringing the former Chelsea player to China.
"I talked to Oscar about Shanghai SIPG before he made the move," Huk is reported as saying by Sky Sports.
"I said to him that Shanghai is a beautiful city, the club is fantastic and we will get even better in the coming years.
"I also said our team-mates are very friendly and welcoming, which makes me feel pretty good.
"After hearing what I told him, he came."
