Henry's Monaco appointment to be confirmed within 48 hours

The Frenchman is currently the assistant manager of the Belgium national team and helped them to the World Cup semi finals this summer. 

This track record and his standing in the game, after a stellar playing career, seem to have convinced Monaco to appoint the Arsenal legend, after they sacked Leandro Jardim earlier in the week.

The club, who are competing in this year's edition of the Champions League, sit 18th in Ligue 1 after a disastrous start to the campaign, for which the Portuguese manager has paid the price.   

Henry, 41, played for the Monegasque club between 1994 and 1999 and will now start his career in management in the same place he started as a player. 

It is understood that the former 'Sky Sports' pundit turned down the chance to manage English Championship club Aston Villa earlier in the week, instead preferring a return to the Stade Louis II. 

Although the deal to put Henry in charge is not yet finalised, sources claim that both parties understand that it is only a matter of time before minor contractual details are wrangled out and the appointment is confirmed.
