Ex-Yugoslavia international Ilija Petkovic passed away in Belgrade on Saturday at the age of 74 after it became known that he had tested positive for the coronavirus.
Petkovic, who had occupied the post as president of the Belgrade Football Federation until now, played 43 times for Yugoslavia between 1968 and 1974.
He was the captain of the Belgrade side OFK Beograd for many years and is one of the best players in the history of the team. He played for the Uruguayan side Peñarol in 1971-72 and was at the French club Troyes for three seasons.
He was manager of Serbia and Montenegro from 2000 to 2001 and 2003 to 2006 and also managed in Switzerland (champion with Servette), Greece (Aris), and China.
