Corona did not go to Sevilla because Monchi did not want to pay buyout clause

When the transfer window was open, Jesus Corona was one of Sevilla's targets. 'El Desmarque says that the reason why he did not end up in La Liga was because Monchi, Sevilla's sporting director, did not want to pay the 30 million euros stipulated in his buyout clause. 

This figure is higher than his market value which is 25.8 million euros, according to ProFootballDB, BeSoccer's database. The current economic situation means clubs will not spend more than is necessary. 

He was one of Julen Lopetegui's favourite players, but the club got other players to cover that area of the pitch. An example of this is the purchase of Suso, who plays in the same area of the pitch as the Mexican right winger. 

Corona will have to wait until the next transfer window to receive an interesting offer if he wants to leave Porto. At the moment, he is a vital part of Porto's project although teammate Layun believes Corona will never go to a bigger club because of his nationality.
