Controversy for Mbappe: goal 15 minutes after risking a red card

Kylian Mbappe's match changed completely within 15 minutes. The Real Madrid striker risked getting sent off but ended up being on the scoresheet, netting the third goal for 'Los Blancos' against Girona at the Montivili.

The Frenchman was shown a yellow card just before the first-half whistle for protesting the referee's decision but could've been shown a second one for his handball in the second period. 

But after the small scare, Mbappe was back to smiling 15 minutes later. A brilliant ball from veteran Luka Modric sent the 25-year-old through, who struck past Paulo Gazzaniga from an almost impossible angle.

Mbappe's goal came after Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler's respective goals as Real Madrid now look set to claim the maximum point and thus, cut the gap at the summit of La Liga following Barcelona's draw at Betis earlier today.
