Sevilla were 2-0 down at the end of the first half at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez and after 45 minutes of absolute madness and controversy.
Tensions were running high on the field of play and the referee, Mateu Lahoz, showed seven yellows and a red in the first half. After half an hour, the referee went to the VAR monitor to give a penalty for handball by Franco Vazquez which was quite debatable. Lahoz was convinced it was a penalty.
Jaime Mata tucked away the penalty for the side looking to get into the Champions League places. A bit later on, the Sevilla goalkeeper, Vaclik got hit and the goalie went down on the floor. He had to receive treatment.
The same story occurred right on half-time since Getafe asked for another penalty for a handball by Escudero and Mateu Lahoz went again to the pitchside monitor after which he gave another penalty and a second yellow to Sergio Escudero.
Jorge Molina made no mistake from the spot before the half-time whistle sounded. At half-time, Monchi could be seen getting out of his seat and going down to the dugout and the dressing room to talk to the manager Caparros and all of the players.
